Final Conference Event of the MARGIN Project – Budapest (Hungary) from the 3rd to the 5th April 2017

The MARGIN project is approaching to end and a three-day final Conference is going to be organized in Budapest in April 2017, during the last month of the project activity.

All Project partners will carry out the recruitment of 10 key end-users from their respective country as well as others from countries outside the consortium. They will be all invited to participate to the conference and it is expected to reach a total involvement of 100 participants. They will be also asked to speak and to give presentations about their fields of work, all connected to those of the MARGIN project.

The Conference aims at generating a debate around the project’s results and enhancing a process of knowledge exchange among researchers, policymakers and practitioners in the field of security.

The Participants will be involved into different activities (workshops, seminars and plenary sessions) with the objective of creating synergies towards the identification of good practices in the assessment of security and the implementation of policies targeted at the reduction of the perception of insecurity among different social groups.

In particular, the topics of the event are:

– Cross-national measures of crime and perception of insecurity;
– Improvements to survey-based approaches to measure perception of insecurity;
– Multi-method approaches to study crime-related issues;
– Insecurity in urban areas/neighbourhoods (transversal topic);
– Good practices in reducing insecurity;
– The role of citizens in security research (transversal topic).

Given the importance of this event for dissemination and exploitation of the results of MARGIN project, the project budget includes resources specifically allocated to cover the costs of fees for travel and accommodation of the 10 key end-users recruited by the project’s partners.

The Conference is also open to the participation of those people who are not on the shared list of invitees, but who are interested in the specific fields of work of the MARGIN project.

Participants are invited to register to the event, sending an e-mail to the following specific address, writing their names and specifying details about their institutions: margin@okri.hu

For these people the participation to the Conference in free of charge.

The email address can also be used for any question regarding the logistics during the final conference.

MARGIN Final Event follows the Kick-Off Meeting among partners (held in Barcelona in May 2015), the First Consortium Meeting (organized by EuroCrime in Florence on December 2015 from the 17th to the 18th) and the Second Consortium Meeting (organized by the Interior Department of the Generalitat of Catolonia in Barcelona on June 2016 from the 13th to the 14th).

Furthermore, the final Conference of the MARGIN Project will be the occasion for the organization of the third and last Consortium Meeting among the Project’s Partner. This will be held in Budapest from the 6th to the 7th April 2017 in the same venue of the Conference, giving the opportunity to partners to share their impressions on the whole project management process in the past two years.

We remember that MARGIN sets up an international environment for knowledge exchange involving as partners some of the leading EU institutions in Crime Victimization Surveys (CVSs): Universitat de Barcelona (project leader, Spain), EuroCrime (Italy), National Institute of Criminology (Hungary), Institut national des hautes études de la sécurité et de la justice (France), Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca (Italy), University College London (United Kingdom), Departament d’Interior-Generalitat de Catalunya (Spain).
