Conclusions of the Second Consortium meeting of the “MARGIN Project – Tackle Insecurity in Marginalized Areas” – Florence, Italy, December 17-18th 2015

On December 17-18th 2015 the second Consortium meeting of the “MARGIN Project – Tackle Insecurity in Marginalized Areas” had been held in Florence, Italy, and organized by EuroCrime – Research, Training and Consulting SrL. After eight months of work since the project began, the meeting served as an occasion for summarizing the status of MARGIN as well as reviewing the next steps, with a focus on the period between the meeting in Florence and the next Consortium meeting on June 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. All seven institutions involved in the project were represented: Universitat de Barcelona (project leader, Spain), EuroCrime (Italy), National Institute of Criminology (Hungary), Institut national des hautes études de la sécurité et de la justice (France), Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca (Italy), University College London (United Kingdom), Departament d’Interior-Generalitat de Catalunya (Spain). The main topics tackled during the meeting had been the followings: presentation of the progress that has been made in the data analysis of factors assessing public and personal insecurity; review of the content and work plan for the incoming activities focusing on quantitative and qualitative data collection (survey design and data collection, anthropological dimension of insecurity); planning dissemination and exploitation activities for 2016. Eventually, within the meeting, two management bodies for the project gathered: the Ethics Advisory Board (EAB) and the Scientific and Technical Core Group (STCG). The initiative is funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Commission within the Secure Societies Challenge. For more information visit the project website: https://marginproject.eu
